The loss of someone we love is one of life’s most challenging experiences. The grief we feel can be overwhelming, and often more intense than we—or others—might expect.
To help navigate this difficult time, we provide a series of articles exploring different types of grief. These resources are designed to help you better understand your own grief or to support you in empathizing with someone else’s experience.
These articles are written by Dr Bill Webster, our Director of Grief Education, and form part of a comprehensive library available on our Grief Journey web portal. Dr Bill is the founder and executive director of the Centre for the Grief Journey. He earned his doctorate from the University of Toronto in 1990 and has been awarded a prestigious fellowship in thanatology by the Association of Death Education and Counselling (ADEC).
Dr Bill’s expertise in grief comes not only from academic study but also from personal experience. In 1983, his young wife passed away suddenly from a heart attack, leaving him to cope with profound loss while raising two sons, aged seven and nine. Over the past 30 years, Dr Bill has become a respected author, international speaker, and seminar leader, offering insight and support drawn from decades of experience in grief counselling and education.
